Chabaoma Fm
Type Locality and Naming
The lectostratotype is Buyihu section (N33°28′00″, E90°10′00″), Zhiduo County, Qinghai Province. According to the manuscript, named by Xia Zhu in 1957. Introduced by the Regional Stratigraphic Table Compilation Group of Qinghai Province in 1980.
Synonyms: The Chabaoma Formation is synonymous with the Shipingding Fm and the Chapangmaxun Gr.
Lithology and Thickness
The continental volcanic rocks of the Chabaoma Formation are mainly neutral volcanic lava, such as trachyandesite and andesite. The lower part is composed of grayish-black, grayish-green, reddish-brown, spheroidal and porphyry lava. The upper part is composed of light-gray and grayish-black porous lava. The thickness ranges from 80 m to 1841m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
The Chabaoma Formation overlies the Tuotuohe Fm or the Bayankelashan Gr, the Jiezha Gr and the Fenghuoshan Gr.
Upper contact
The Chabaoma Formation is overlain by the Quguo Fm and the Qiangtang Fm.
